Jacob Mott
Alabaster, Alabama
My name is Jacob Mott, I grew up fishing the Alabama river with my dad and brother. Life led me to the Birmingham area and I was soon infatuated with fishing the Cahaba. I picked up my first kayak in 2017, a Field & Stream Eagle Talon, and fished every inch of water I could access. 2019 was my first tournament season. I had a lot of success that year, even winning AOY with Iron City Kayak Anglers. During that year I upgraded to a NuCanoe Pursuit. It was a night and day difference between the kayaks.
I continued pursuing my passion for fishing, learning and exploring. In 2022 I reacquired AOY for Iron City and also won AOY for River Region Kayak Anglers. I also rounded out that season by winning the State Championship.
There’s nothing I love more than fishing secluded water. I’ll launch a kayak through half a mile of mud, jump beaver dams, paddle for miles and drag over log piles just to see something new and hard to reach. The best fishing is always just out of sight.
